Sustainability: Green Building Design
Architecture And Interior
Introduction:
We work on Sustainable Green Building, this is both in-terms of Architecture and Interiors. We specify on exterior construction of buildings, their materials and Design, buildings are now adapting to the problems that are currently facing the natural environment and the design of their interiors can be no exception.
Sustainability And Interior Design : Material Culture
Interior Design plays an integral part in present industry as it requires continuous update and refurbishment. It helps to be competitive in the market, follow the upcoming trends and adapting the lifestyle, especially in Commercial Interiors, corporate demands refurbishment and expansions, to prevent waste, sustainable strategies need to be set on reclaimed furniture and recycled materials.
Sustainable Finishes And Furnishings :
There are numerous new materials or finishes in the market and we keep upgrading our recourses in terms to new trend, new brands and new products in this regards. However we can find ways to use existing ones in modern ways, material like bamboo as it is known as a miracle material, and also it is essential to make it work in modern ways.
It is a challenge to choose sustainable materials for finishes such as flooring and also to select finishes depending on their impact on indoor or outdoor air quality (IAQ)
Sustainable Furniture Strategies :
The material reusability, life cycle of material, recycled content, recyclability, manufacturing process, rapidly renewable material and place of origin these all needs to be taken in to consideration when selecting materials.
Implementing Sustainable Solutions In Design Project :
To implement sustainable design solutions, it is essential to avoid obstacles like budget, lack of information and to compromise on aesthetics and performance.
Sustainable Interior Design must be an Integrated and joint effort from government, planners, developers, architects, engineers, interior designers, code officials, landscape architects and facility managers.
ECO Certification: Materials And Finishes
LCA :
There is a life cycle assessment (LCA), where a product’s inception, right through to its manufacturing, use, and end of life issues are assessed. It is also necessary to consider the embodied energy of a product in order to understand its true environmental advantages. For example, a product may contain environmentally responsible materials, but consume significant amounts of energy during its manufacturing or transportation.
EPM: Environmental Preference Method :
EPM can be applied to most material selections and is a viable option for Interior designers.
Green-Guard Environmental Institute : (GEI)
The program calls for retesting on a regular basis to ensure that compliant products continue to meet the established emissions levels.
Scientific Certification Systems (SCS) :
It is certification program, including indoor air emission and a Material Content Environmental Certification Program, for numerous industries.
The Global Eco-Labeling Network (GEN) :
A non-profit association made up of third-party, environmental performance recognition, certification and labeling organizations founded in 1994 to improve, promote, and develop the “eco-labeling” of products and services.
